Product Description Better, Faster, and More Powerful Than Fish Oil*Just one MegaRedTM Softgel equals Three Fish Oil Softgels for Supporting Cardiovascular Health.* * Clinically shown to support cardiovascular health. * Maintain healthy cholesterol levels already within the normal range. * Promotes joint health and flexibility.MegaRedTM omega-3s are several times stronger than larger amounts of fish oil omega-3s and May Reduce the Risk of Coronary Heart Disease.**MegaRedTM from SchiffA contains NKOTM Krill Oil, which uniquely combines both omega-3s - fatty acids vital to life at every stage - with critical antioxidants, your body's optimal way to neutralize free radicals.* Sourced from genuine Antarctic Krill (tiny crustaceans that thrive in the frigid waters of the Antarctic), NKOTM Krill Oil offers a combination of omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids and critical antioxidants which support heart and joint health better than fish oil.^These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.*Comparison of 300 mg NKOTM Krill Oil (1 MegaRedTM softgel) with 3000 mg Fish Oil (3 fish oil softgels).**Fish oil is not known for its antioxidant properties.^Supportive, but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

Disappointed with ingredients... September 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was delighted when I received the Costco flyer showing that they now offered the krill MegaRed. I'd been buying for some time, on an automatic shipment basis, Nordic Krill from Amazon. The price seemed excellent at $20.77 per month for 60 capsules (I take two a day). The MegaReds were listed as 90 capsules for about the same amount of money. However, when I looked at the ingredients and saw sorbitol listed, that was the end of MegaRed.
Even if the amount of sorbitol in each capsule is minute, I still reject ingesting sorbitol in any form. So, I guess it's back to Nordic Krill capsules from Amazon. Or perhaps the wild salmon I eat every day is actually sufficient and I don't really need to take a supplement.
No side-effects. September 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was shopping price for this product (originally purchased at Costco) and noted the review that spoke about side effects. I've been taking this daily for the last 6 months and have had no side-effects of any kind. So, if this is the product you want, do not assume that it will cause side effects based on the one negative review.
DISTURBING SIDE EFFECT September 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Shortly after taking 2 caps a day I began having a phantom olfactory sensation (smell) of a sweet, sea-weedy, unpleasant nature. I actually started gagging in bed last evening and put perfume on the end of my nose to distract myself! I couldn't find any external source and thought that it might actually be generated internally. It occurred to me that it could be the Mega Red so I broke open a capsule and sure enough, the thick, shockingly red oil smelled exactly like my phantom odor. I can't begin to imagine what my insides look like, let alone smell like--other body by-products also smell like krill oil. Regular Omega-3 fish oils have not had this effect (those that are marketed as having no fishy aftertaste). I found this nasty sensation very disturbing.

Product is difficult to find in retail and was easily found through amazon. Was recommended by a doctor to try in the aid of lowering cholestral, and I, a person who cannot tolerate taking fish oil because of the size of the pill, let alone 3-6 a day, find Mega Red Krill sized right and easy, taking only 1 pill daily. Priced right and delivered efficiently.
