3 out of 5 stars A Change of Pace...   May 29, 2008

Bally Double Dutch Chocolate powder is a staple of my diet and that of my wife. But too much of a good thing gets to be boring, so I tried this to change things up a bit.

Basically we replace one meal a day, usually lunch, each weekday with the Bally drink. Two days a week I use this Vanilla mixed about half with the chocolate for variety. I am not enough of a fan of this flavor alone to use it straight more than rarely. But it adds a twist as a mix.

Recently I found another use for the Vanilla. Both of these Bally products tend to be a bit thicker and more satisfyingly substantial when mixed with water rather than milk as other protein powders must be to avoid a watery "mouth feel" (this is an important consideration as my wife and I are both lactose intolerant.) But Amazon had no stock of the chocolate for months and I was forced to use one of those "thinner" products. I found that using this vanilla for one third to one half of the final mixture made those alternate products more palatable.

Recommended as a supplement to your main meal replacement product.

1 out of 5 stars Didn't like taste at all   March 8, 2007

The taste was terrible and this product has an artificial sweetener in it that I wasn't aware of. I wish I would have paid attention to one of the previous reviews.

2 out of 5 stars Practically Tasteless   March 8, 2007

I like products like Instant Breakfast, Slim Fast, etc. and thought this one would be similar. It has an incredibly thick and grainy texture and not much taste at all. I will try to finish, after all, I paid $$ for it, but I will have to hold my nose as I try to swallow!! If you are going to try this product, I recommend asking the club manager for a sample before making an investment.
