5 out of 5 stars Pour before drinking!!!   September 11, 2008

I have been using these two products since they're introduction into market. I totally agree that both flavors have a very nasty after taste, but what a difference it made when I poured the shake out of the can and into a regular glass!!! The flavor, etc. was completely different and much more tolerable, I can actually say I enjoy the flavor now! Give it a try!

4 out of 5 stars Good for post-bariatric surgery diet   September 3, 2008

I'm about a month past my gastric bypass surgery, and I still have problems handling many solid foods, especially meat protein. That makes it tough to hit my daily target for protein intake (60+ grams).

To be perfectly honest, ZOIC is not as tasty as many liquid diet "shake" drinks, such as HMR and Optifast. On the other hand, it contains 50% more protein, has ZERO sugar, and is only 110 calories.

Although I have both flavors, right now I prefer the Belgian Chocolate to the French Vanilla. As others have noted, the taste is very close to YooHoo, a sugary bottled chocolate drink that has been around since the 1920s. There's a very slight hint of grittiness, but it's not objectionable at all.

Would I be drinking this if I had not gone through gastric bypass? Probably not, but I find ZOIC to be an excellent alternative to other protein drinks with high sugar or fat count. An added plus is that it counts towards my 64 oz/day target for water consumption.

1 out of 5 stars Avoid At All Costs   August 18, 2008

This product tastes TERRIBLE. It's thin, watery and has a somewhat gritty texture. It is slightly bitter and leaves a bad aftertaste. It may be nutritionally sound but you wont benefit from that if you can't drink it without gagging. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. YOU'LL REGRET IT IF YOU DO!

3 out of 5 stars Counting carbs   August 17, 2008

Zoic shake. Liked the vanilla better than the chocolate -- also one carb less / can

5 out of 5 stars Great product!   August 3, 2008

I love the Zoic Nutrition Drink. It is rather thin in consistency but that doesn't bother me. It is very well formulated and is great for losing weight. The Belgian Chocolate really is the best flavor. And Amazon has the best price. I signed up for Subscribe & Save and that makes it two dollars cheaper per 4 pack and $12 cheaper for the case than the grocery.
