Good nutrition source February 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I feel good about eating things I can pronounce... and the protein in this bar makes it perfect for breakfast. I'm satisfied for several hours!
Super Protein, Super Good February 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love the Odwalla Super Protein Bar's. The taste is good, and they are made out of real food, I think these are as "unprocessed" as a meal replacement bar can get. They are not as delicious as Zone bars, and not as filling as Muscle Milk, but because of the safety issues with the latter and expense/unhealthy ingredient issues with the former, I've been looking for an alternative with plenty of protein, and these fit the bill.
I'm trying to lose the last 8 pounds left from my pregnancy with my third child, and I don't have time to cook much, especially in the morning. These are a filling breakfast, especially with a cup of hot green tea. In fact they are so hearty that sometimes I'll eat just half of one after I drop off my daughter in the morning, on my way to the gym, and the other half after I get back to the car, to tide me over until I can get my hands on a more substantial meal (and prevent a stop at all those drive-thru's I pass on my way to my next stop).
The thing to remember, if you are trying to drop body fat, is that these have nearly as many calories as many Healthy Choice Meals, and those often have a protein (meat or poultry), a starchy veggie like potatoes, gravy, a full serving of green veggies, and a dessert, so for me, these meal replacement bars are strictly for when I don't have time to eat something more substantial. That said, the taste is good and they generally don't leave me hungry. I am usually fine for at least two and a half hours after eating one of these bars.
Super Protein -- sweet but not much flavor otherwise January 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This review pertains to the Super Protein flavor protein bar made by Odwalla:
I generally like Odwalla bars. None of the flavors has disappointed me, though I do like some of them more than others. (The blueberry and peanut/chocolate chip flavors are particularly good.) The best thing about the Super Protein flavor is that it, in fact, does have more protein than many other bars of similar weight and caloric content. The bad news is that while this flavor doesn't taste bad, it really doesn't have much flavor beyond "sweet." So, while I sometimes eat this bar before or after a workout when I cannot make a whey protein shake, I actually prefer other flavors (even though they have less protein) if I'm just looking for a bar to eat as a small meal/snack.
Excellent food bar November 24, 2007 Delicious, nutritious, and it's got more protein for your buck than any other energy/health bar. I highly recommend it, just make sure you have water nearby because it will make you thirsty.
Like an Oatmeal Cookie September 11, 2007 Great energy bar. Gives 16grams of protein in under 250 calories. Unlike many of the energy bars that actually taste good (which this one does) it has the best calorie to protein ratio that I have found. It also is like eating an oatmeal cookie. For a healthy treat, midsnack pick me up or part of a light lunch I highly recommend this product
